About the event
Rehabilitation in modern skilled nursing facilities require therapists to integrate clinical expertise with a strong understanding of what matters most to older adults—their personal goals, routines, roles, and sense of autonomy. This course equips therapists to elevate their practice through a patient-centered, functional framework that aligns therapeutic interventions with each individual’s priorities and lived experience.
Participants will learn to apply evidence-based principles of exercise, engagement, and functional task practice while incorporating the core elements of high-intensity functional integration training (HIFIT). HIFIT is a proven, effective method for accelerating functional recovery during a SNF stay by combining targeted strengthening, cardiovascular challenge, and meaningful task repetition. Additional emphasis is placed on identifying What Matters Most to ensure therapy plans reflect the older adult’s personal goals, values, and desired life activities; balance and fall-prevention; and high-quality documentation to capture the value of skilled intervention in a way that supports compliance and reimbursement.
