Effective rehabilitation requires more than identifying impairments—it requires translating assessment findings into individualized exercise prescriptions that improve function and support meaningful patient outcomes. For older adults in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), this process is particularly challenging due to frailty, complex medical conditions, variable mobility levels, and the need to balance appropriate exercise intensity with patient safety and engagement.
This course is an interactive, evidence-informed course designed to advance the clinical reasoning and practical skills of physical and occupational therapy practitioners working with older adults in post-acute and long-term care settings. Participants will explore the relationship between aging, frailty, functional decline, and rehabilitation potential while learning to select, administer, and interpret objective measures of strength, mobility, balance, and cardiovascular endurance.
