At McAllen Transitional Care Center, a Keystone Borderstone affiliate, our commitment to clinical excellence extends far beyond the walls of our outpatient clinic. It is rooted in meaningful collaboration, evidence-based practice, and a shared mission to elevate the quality of life for the patients we serve. This quarter, we had the privilege of strengthening that mission through a dynamic Lunch-N-Learn session with our long-standing partners at WellMed.
A Partnership Built on Trust and Shared Purpose
For years, our local WellMed office has been one of our strongest referral sources and most dedicated supporters. Their trust in our outpatient program reflects a mutual commitment to delivering exceptional care to the community. Each quarter, we come together not only to share updates but also to engage in thoughtful dialogue about patient needs, clinical trends, and opportunities to enhance continuity of care.
This most recent session brought together three medical doctors and three nurse practitioners, creating a collaborative environment where clinical insight and interdisciplinary expertise could flourish.
Highlighting Clinical Innovation: LSVT as a Transformative Treatment Approach
One of the central focuses of this quarter’s meeting was the integration of LSVT (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment) into our therapy program — an evidence-based treatment approach proven to improve movement, speech, and functional independence for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease.
We proudly introduced the newest additions to our LSVT-certified team:
● Chriselda Castillo, OT
● Marissa Ochoa, OT
● Kimberly Rodriguez, DPT

Their recent completion of the LSVT certification program further elevates the clinical capabilities of our therapy department and expands the specialized services available to our community.
Educating Providers: Identifying Patients Who Benefit From LSVT
During the session, our therapists provided WellMed clinicians with practical tools to identify patients who may benefit from LSVT. This included:
Recognizing early signs of functional decline in Parkinson’s Disease.
Understanding the role of amplitude-based training in improving motor performance.
Discussing real-world outcomes from patients currently enrolled in our program.
By equipping providers with this knowledge, we strengthen the referral pathway and ensure that patients receive timely, targeted interventions.
Demonstrating Excellence: Hands-On Movement Demonstrations
To deepen understanding, our team demonstrated several LSVT movements and treatment strategies. This hands-on approach allowed WellMed clinicians to see the intensity, precision, and therapeutic value of LSVT in action. These demonstrations sparked meaningful discussion about how structured, high-effort therapy can significantly improve gait, balance, speech, and overall quality of life for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease.
A Shared Commitment to Better Outcomes
Our quarterly Lunch-N-Learn sessions are more than educational meetings — they are a testament to the power of partnership. By openly discussing patient successes, clinical concerns, and community needs, we create a collaborative ecosystem where patients receive the highest standard of care.
With the addition of three newly certified LSVT clinicians, McAllen Transitional Care Center continues to raise the bar for clinical excellence. Together with WellMed, we remain dedicated to empowering patients, supporting families, and advancing therapeutic innovation in our community.
