LONA Celebrates Its 3rd Annual Resident Olympics!

The residents, Activities Director, and Therapy team at Legend Oaks North Austin (LONA) recently came together for an exciting week of fun, competition, and therapeutic engagement during our 3rd Annual Resident Olympics!

Each day began with a special opening ceremony as residents proudly sang "God Bless America." One of our talented residents led the singing while our Speech-Language Pathologist accompanied on the piano, creating a meaningful and patriotic start to each event day. The ceremony also featured a parade of the Olympic torch, the American flag, and a beautifully crafted American flag created by our residents.

The week-long Olympic events encouraged participation, movement, teamwork, and friendly competition:

🏅 Day 1: Assisted and independent wheelchair mobility and ambulation challenges

🎯 Day 2: Nerf gun target shooting, knocking down stacked cups

🥇 Day 3: Noodle toss activities and ball toss games, where residents worked together while aiming for their opponents' boxes

🏀 Day 4: Residents rotated through five exciting stations:

• Basketball

• Darts

• Bean Bag Toss

• Bow and Arrow Game

• Ladder Ball

🐎 Day 5: The grand finale featured our highly anticipated horse races, followed by an awards ceremony where residents received medals and certificates recognizing their participation and achievements.

To conclude the celebration, residents, families, and staff enjoyed a festive pizza and snow cone party, making for a memorable ending to an amazing week.

The LONA Resident Olympics showcased the determination, strength, and spirit of our residents while promoting physical activity, socialization, and community engagement. A special thank-you to our dedicated Therapy team and staff who worked tirelessly to plan and facilitate this successful event. Congratulations to all of our Olympians for their enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and willingness to participate. We are already looking forward to next year's games! 🏅🇺🇸🎉
