Nichole Singh has become a vibrant presence at The Hills since joining in 2021, but her journey in the healthcare field began much earlier. As a physical therapy assistant (PTA) since 2014, she has dedicated herself to learning and helping others, embodying a commitment to patient care that extends beyond traditional rehabilitation techniques. Nichole studied at Concorde, and her thirst for knowledge and personal growth is evident in her wide-ranging interests, from reading and exploring new activities like axe throwing to uncovering hidden speakeasies and tackling escape rooms.
Her passion for Tai Chi blossomed during her participation in the DORiTO Program, where she submitted Tai Chi as her Capstone project. Through extensive research, Nichole uncovered a wealth of information about the numerous benefits of Tai Chi, which piqued her interest. She was amazed to learn about the various styles and the profound impact Tai Chi can have on health, including improved balance and strength, reduced risk of falls, and lower blood pressure. Driven by this newfound knowledge, she took the initiative to pursue online courses, ultimately becoming certified in teaching Tai Chi for arthritis, fall prevention, and rehabilitation.
Nichole's journey into Tai Chi teaching has not only enhanced her professional skill set but has also enriched the lives of her patients. With the guidance of Sam Baxter, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Therapy Resource, and certified Tai Chi instructor, she was able to navigate the complexities of her certification process. This mentorship underscored the collaborative spirit that Nichole fosters in her work environment.
In her role, Nichole has successfully integrated Tai Chi techniques into individual treatments, sharing these foundational movements with her Rehab team to enhance their approach to patient care. Her determination to bring Tai Chi to a broader audience led her to collaborate with the Activities department, scheduling classes that extend beyond therapy residents to include the entire facility. Her organizational skills shine as she coordinates with Nursing and Activities staff, providing them with a list of patients who will benefit from the class.
Nichole is meticulous in her approach, ensuring that patients are positioned for optimal visibility and comfort during the class. Hosting these sessions in the spacious activities room allows participants to engage fully with the movements, fostering a supportive community atmosphere that encourages participation and connection in a group setting.
Through her journey as a Tai Chi instructor, Nichole Singh exemplifies the transformative power of learning and teaching. Her dedication to her patients and her passion for Tai Chi not only enhance the rehabilitation experience but also inspire those around her to embrace new forms of wellness. As she continues to explore her interests and expand her knowledge, Nichole is poised to make a lasting impact in our organization and the lives of those she serves
