By Courtney Fischbeck, Executive Director, South Mountain Post Acute Care, Phoenix, AZ

South Mountain Post Acute employees have yet another reason to choose SM as a place to work. Recently, they were treated to a free pair of crocs/socks and charms, all because of one outstanding nurse’s efforts.

Rafael Cruz, RN, was picked by a former patient of ours and recognized for his impact on their life and hand-selected for this award. Rafael came to us with a military background and as a recent graduate of an LPN program. Maryann took a chance on him despite him having no exposure to SNF, and he has quickly blossomed into one of our most dedicated and best nurses, all while he was pursuing his RN. Four pallets of free product (1,100 pounds of crocs, 400 pounds of socks, and 35 pounds of charms) were delivered on his behalf. It felt like 2020 all over again. 😊

See below for the award notice sent to Maryann Bowles, Endura Therapy Resource:

Hi Maryann,

Because of the care your nurses and facility give and positive impact on the people and patients around you, a healthcare worker on your staff and your medical facility were nominated to receive Crocs, socks, and Jibbitz as part of Crocs’ Free Pair for Healthcare initiative. This initiative has run annually since 2020, and this year, we wanted to let friends and family nominate a deserving nurse or healthcare worker with a story celebrating the incredible care they give each and every day.

Rafael Cruz and your medical facility have been selected to receive an assortment of approximately 1,430 pairs of Crocs, socks, and Jibbitz to personalize your new Crocs! These can be distributed in partnership with the nominated nurse in the manner of your facility’s choosing.
